100% success in tournament
Rainhill's U10 girls win all their games

Rainhill u10’s girls softball team remain the only team to maintain an absolute 100% winning statistic following the latest tournament last Sunday morning.
The stars of the show were April Jones, Annabelle and Olivia Clifford, Olivia Smedley, Sarah Lawler, Edie Brougham, Maddie Rotheram and newcomer Emily Ashcroft.
Ably led by coach Alex and looking resplendent in Rainhill colours the girls took on teams from Northern, Bootle and the hosts Liverpool in a pairs format, receiving two overs per pair, and drew particular attention for some strong hitting, accurate bowling and great reactions in the field.
The coach for Liverpool made a particular point of approaching Alex after their game to congratulate Rainhill on a superb batting display. It’s always nice to hear positive comments from an opposing coach and with three wins under their belt it was only the rain that prevented the team collecting a possible fourth win of the day with the planned match against Fleetwood Hesketh being pulled due to poor weather.
In truth the tournament was played in great spirits with the emphasis on inclusion and enjoyment rather than run rates and tumbling wickets but it was clear to spectators that this is a talented bunch of players who we hope will stay and develop their enjoyment of cricket at the club.
The next tournament is scheduled for Sunday 8th August at Fleetwood Hesketh in Southport where the girls will hope to extend their winning streak of six wins from six.
