150 Not Out book launch

New book takes a look over a historic season

A book celebrating Rainhill Cricket Club's 150th anniversary season is set to be launched at Rainhill Library on Monday 16th May.

150 Not Out takes a detailed look at the events of 2021 - a year in which the club celebrated 150 years since its creation - both on the field and off it. A series of "tales" tell the story of the various teams' season, from the 1st team to the under 9s. Included within the book is also a brief history of Rainhill CC, tracing the club's journey from the early days to the present.

150 Not Out contains over 175 professional-quality photographs in addition to statistical data. It is dedicated to junior coach John Pearson, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

The launch will also see former 1st team captain Frank Davies introduce his own short book, Rainhill Cricket Club Reflections, in which he looks back over his own career and achievements, as well as some of the characters involved with the club over the years. Club president Peter Mercer said of 150 Not Out: “Rainhill Cricket Club is a Club that means so much to so many. The 150th year of its history (with a look back over the years) has been excellently documented in this quality production. My sincere thanks and appreciation go to Andrew Page, General Editor, for his considerable efforts taking photographs and producing

the narrative.”

Both books can be purchased online from Inspire Publishing.
