A Christmas message from LCC
A HUGE thank you to all our supporters and volunteers

22nd December 2020
At the end of what has been an unusual and highly challenging year, the committee would like to thank everyone associated with the club for the incredible support that has been given throughout the year.
It was hardly the kind of season we expected, but there was a time when we thought no cricket would be played at all. We are grateful to everyone who came together to make playing cricket possible in trying and unfamiliar circumstances.
Even before the pandemic began to affect our community, the club was impacted by an act of vandalism that saw the scorebox and some equipment unnecessarily destroyed. The way in which not only the club but also our community rallied to help us set the tone for what was to follow.
Rainhill Cricket Club is very much a community club and the last year has been testimony to that. The response to the vandalism was so impressive that eventually we had to thank people but refuse their offers to replace damaged items because we had already received so much. Our sponsors have continued to support us throughout a very difficult year. Volunteers have made sure that not only have the four senior teams have been able to play cricket this year, but have also ensured that the juniors', girls' and women's teams have had something of a season too - even if it was significantly shortened. Everyone has had the opportunity to get onto the field at some point and enjoy some cricket.
Clubs like ours are always dependent on our community and volunteers, but this year people have gone "above and beyond" and in some cases have made the impossible possible.
Of course, it was particularly pleasing to see our teams not only playing cricket but being successful. Our 1st XI picking up their first silverware for 15 years, the LMS team being crowned champions, strong tournament performances from the women's side and some fantastic progress made by our other teams all underline the value of the "togetherness" that has helped our club through one of its toughest ever seasons.
Covid-19 is clearly still with us and there remains a lot of uncertainty. But one thing we can be sure of is that Rainhill Cricket Club will be here in 2021 - in its 150th anniversary year - to continue to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the fantastic game we call cricket.
We hope 2021 will bring us new reasons to celebrate, but in the meantime we would like to thank you all for your help and support - and wish you a happy and peaceful Christmas.
