Rainhill fall short against Northern
Biley Banerjee hits fantastic 66 in losing cause

1st September 2020
Northern: 164-7 (Callum Snaylam 65, Scott Snaylam 25, Jack Lowrie 3-18) Rainhill: 151 all out (Biley Banerjee 66, Christopher Hurst 18, Jack Snaylam 3-35) Northern won by 13 runs Scorecard
The 3rd XI lost at home to Northern as they were bowled out just 14 runs short of victory. Rainhill won the toss and opted to field. Northern's innings got off to a dismal start as they lost Jonny Browne (5) and Janu Wewalwala (0) in quick succession, with Jack Lowrie (3 for 18) picking up both wickets. However, Callum Snaylam and Scott Snaylam put together a dangerous partnership that took the score from 9-2 to 85-3 - the latter was eventually trapped lbw by Oliver Powell (2 for 21) for 25.
Callum Snaylam went on to score 65 from 96 balls before he was bowled by the impressive Jack Lowrie. He was ably supported by Alastair Browne (16 not out) and Matthew Kavanagh (17) as Northern amassed a score of 164-7 from their 40 overs.
Rainhill's response was largely powered by Biley Banerjee (pictured) who hit a magnificent 66. Unfortunately, once Banerjee was caught by Scott Snaylam off the bowling of Jacob Browne, Rainhill collapsed from 113-3 to 151 all out. No-one was able to stay around for long as wickets continued to tumble and, aside from Banerjee, only Ethan Powell (13) and Christopher Hurst (18) were able to reach double figures.
Northern will be impressed with their work in the field, especially Jack Snaylam who finished with figures of 3-35.
Points: Rainhill 0pts, Northern 3 pts.
