Derbyshire ace joins for 2023 season

Former Derbyshire captain Billy Godleman has signed for Rainhill for the 2023 season - and will make his debut in the Premier League match at home to New Brighton this afternoon.

Godleman, who has also played first class cricket for Middlesex and Essex, stepped down as Derbyshire's captain at the end of last season. He led his side for 148 matches - only six other captains have been in charge for more games. While he remains a senior member of the county's squad, there will hopefully be several opportunities for him to play for Rainhill during 2023. A top-order batsman, Godleman has 23 first class centuries to his name with a career-best 227 against Glamorgan in 2019. With over 10,000 first class runs to his name, and having gained international experience with England U-19, he will hopefully have a major impact at Rainhill.
