Rainhill's women’s team played took on Hightown St Mary's in the Lancashire Cricket Foundation T20 competition on Sunday. Batting first against an experienced and talented Hightown side, Rainhill put on 74 with Lucy Strettle top scoring with 19, Sarah Curlett adding 13 runs apiece and Amber Bowie contributing 9. Julie Allan and Aimee-Louise Conlan-Bloor each took 3 wickets for 10 runs for the home side.
In response Hightown reached their target of 75 for the loss of one wicket - taken by Amber Bowie, who bowled opener Vicky Stackpool for 3. While the result may not have been the one Rainhill were looking for, the positive performance underlines how far this team has come in a very short time.
